Design and Manufacturing guidelines : Our preferred references for the design of scale models are
: original manufacturing drawings (when available), flight and maintenance
manuals, photographs, and actual observation and measurement of full
size vintage aircraft. Our models are manufactured in aviation quality birch plywood
4/10 to 8/10 mm thick. Some elements manufactured in balsa wood are
used for structural reinforcement. Only the cowlings, canopies, wheels,
propellers, simulated engines and small accessories are manufactured
in various other non-wood materials. The covering material is 12 gram/m²
Japan tissue paper shrunk with water and sealed in the traditional fashion
with nitrate dope. A very detailed note of building instructions is supplied with
each kit. Our main concern being the weight of our flying scale models, we are very attentive to maintaining the wing loading of our flying models at approximately 7 to 9 grams per dm². This wing loading is of course calculated with the aircraft being fully equipped with the propulsion motor and variable speed controller, the RC receiver, the actuators or the servos and the battery. The receiver, motor controller and actuators are manufactured
by JMP - chosen for their reputation of high reliability and exceptionally
light weight.
